Luoghi del Contemporaneo is a project promoted by the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture to map and promote the network of contemporary art venues in Italy.

The project has led to the creation of this online platform, which is constantly being updated, useful to orientate the knowledge of the contemporary art scene throughout the country and to support its valorisation.This is the first survey of an institutional nature, carried out by the MiC, exclusively dedicated to the realities of contemporary art in Italy.

The Luoghi del Contemporaneo platform has the character of a reconnaissance in progress in the field that aims to contribute to monitoring the contemporary art scene in Italy. It will be implemented or modified as the current scenario changes.

At the moment all realities with commercial purposes have been excluded from the survey.

The platform contributes to the promotion and enhancement of contemporary languages and their protagonists and falls within the scope of action of the Directorate General.

The working group of the Places of the Contemporary remains active as an observatory of data and a forum for the analysis of the changing context of contemporaneity.
